Mae Wonders
Mae the cicada decides that cars are shells and humans are unfinished beings waiting for their wings, until one of them saves her life.
Mae has just shed her skin and is ready for her first adventure, with her show-off cousin Jeremy not far behind. When she spots huge creatures roaring along a grey strip, she has questions. Are they shells? Are the beings who climb out of them still waiting to grow their wings? There’s only one way to find out, until the shell starts to move.
A funny, warm picture book set in the Australian bush, about kindness and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. Inspired by a real cicada caught on my windscreen.
