The Parrot Pirate Carrot Cake

A mix-up on the phone gives Arthur a parrot cake, a pirate cake and a carrot cake all at once, and a brilliant idea to make everyone right.

 Arthur loves his three great-aunts, and each has a special talent: Prudence bakes prize-winning cakes, Penelope is a famous artist and Philippa has a green thumb. For his birthday, Arthur wants a carrot cake, but he doesn’t want anyone to feel left out. After a muddled round of phone calls (with hearing aids in drawers and studios), one aunt is ready with a bird-shaped tin, another turns up with a treasure chest and gold coins, and only one with juicy carrots. When the aunts begin to argue, Arthur must find a way to make "carrot", "parrot" and "pirate" all come true without hurting anyone's feelings.

A picture book comedy about listening, kindness, and the happy accidents that come from a misheard word. Inspired by a real birthday mix-up and my hard-of-hearing life experience where phone calls are often a guessing game.
